- This pit was roughly circular in shape with a diameter ranging between 0.70m to 0.74m, and cut 0.23m deep into the natural. The pit was filled with a loose silty clay, a medium amount of charcoal and contained 3 lithic pieces, one of which was a worked piece of flint SF203, at least 11 prehistoric pot sherds SF182, SF183, SF184, SF185, SF186, SF187, SF188, SF194, SF198, SF199, SF200 some of which showed impressed (?) decoration, a deliberately (?) fragmented Langdale polished stone axe head SF179 and a second possible axe fragment which had been polished but which was also more severely abraded SF189.

Dating Narrative

- The presence of Neolithic/Early Bronze Age pottery and the deposit presence of a Langdale axe firmly dates the filling of this pit to the Neolithic
