Alongside the excavation, DigVentures is opening up the Finds Room so that Earth Trust visitors can come and spend a day learning all about fabulous finds, amazing artefacts, and what archaeologists do with them once they’re out of the ground.
Each day runs as a self-contained course, focusing on how different types of artefacts are handled, washed, treated and quantified, and what happens to them next.
Everyone joining us in the Finds Room learns how to handle, identify and interpret objects that have lain in the ground for thousands of years, and put newfound skills into practice using real examples from the ongoing excavation.
You’ll also get a real insight into the lives of the people who once inhabited Earth Trust land – all by getting hands-on with the artefacts they left behind thousands of years ago.
