This year’s dig has taught us so much that we’re already planningto return for another round of excavation in 2022. Our aim will be to get to the bottom of this incredible Tudor garden, and unearth the story of its creation. Keep an eye on our website, email newsletter, and social media for updates…
Thanks to everyone who crowdfunded this dig! Our understanding of the site has changed dramatically in this short time, and you can now follow Ginny on a mini tour of the excavation to see what we’ve learned, and uncovered, with your support over the last two weeks.
The digger is here and the trenches are being closed up! What a dig it’s been this year, full of lots of surprises. We’re super happy with what we’ve uncovered so far, and we can’t wait to see what else will show up as we move forward.
Until next time!
Yesterday we hosted our Halloween Special on Zoom, and learnt all about some spooky Tudor ghost stories!

Last on the list, the team are quantifying and bagging all the finds we’ve uncovered on site. The larger stones from Winchcombe Abbey will stay at the castle, but we’ll be sending away everything else to specialists for further analysis. For now, we’ll make sure we have a full count of everything we’ve found from every context for the records.
